I hope you had a nice Labor Day weekend and are enjoying the last days of summer. I can’t believe how fast summer went by and the kids are back to school and I’m back to company meetings learning the Medicare plans for 2026.

Today, I report on the Medicare section of the 2025 Social Security Trustee Report, including the Part A Hospital Insurance Trust fund as well as Parts B & D. If no action is taken by Congress, the HI trust fund will be insolvent by 2033 and only 89% of current benefits will be paid.

2025 Social Security Trustee Report Analysis - Part 2
Continuing my special mini-series, today I take a deep dive into how the Social Security Trust Fund really works, using a sink as an analogy of revenues coming into the fund (water from the faucet) and benefits going out (water going down the drain). We either need to increase revenues - like a 3.9 % increase to payroll taxes - or reduce benefits - like raising the retirement age to 70. Or a combination of both.
